My Sons 1st Birthday Party theme

or

Wow! My little bundle of joy is almost 1! Well, we actually  have a few months to go but I am trying to get a headstart on planning the birthday celebration. Since his birthday is May 5th (Cinco de Mayo), I thought a Cinco de Mayo celebration was the most obvious way to go. I have research places online where I can get decorations and party favorites. And keeping with the Mexican theme planning a menu will be a cinch, tacos, burritos, chips and salsa, and maybe even some tamale's (I work with a few Mexican women that make delicious tamales and I could get them to make a tray for me).

Another option for decor is Pooh's 1st theme. This is another great choice because my baby theme was/is Pooh. My baby shower decor was all Winnie the Pooh and it is the schematic on all of my baby items. Then I would just go with the traditional menu that my extended family usually enjoys at all events. In my opinion, this is the more boring route as far as the menu goes but it is an automatic hit.

Pros and cons: this will be the last year that I will be able to use the Pooh theme whereas, his birthday will always be on Cinco de Mayo and I could use that theme at anytime in the future. I will have at least 2 but maybe 3 more years before he is able to weigh in on the party theme. Right now generic works because he has no favorite characters or shows, so its mom's choice. My family is obviously not Mexican and I don't know how the "fiesta" theme will go over but I thought it would be a good idea. It even presents a nice game for the older kids they can decorate sombreros and or ponchos.

Once I decide  on a theme, I have to pick a location: park or banquet hall AND where I live or hometown. But that's a post for later, THANK GOODNESS!
